'Self Publish' your novel
There has never been a better time to become a
novelist and get your book published - self
Did you know that more books are self published
today than those done using the traditional
route? Why? well it has become very easy and is
open to everyone.
In the past getting published was a hard task.
The publishers were deluged with potential book
manuscripts to read. Just getting your work
appraised was a daunting task but for many it
was worth the perseverance. It is reported that
JK Rowling, although having employed a literary
agent, had Harry Potter books
by 12 different publishers when the manuscripts
were first submitted in 1996. We all know how
that story ended - so it was worth the struggle!
Sixteen years later, things have changed and are
definitely better for the aspiring novel writer.
The racy 50 Shades Of Gray, written by
EL James in 2011, was self published. It got to
the top of The New York Times
e-book and print bestseller lists. It is also
reported to have set the record for being the
fastest selling paperback of all time, beating
Harry Potter! Self publishing has
turned the whole novel publishing industry on
its head and put the traditional publishers on
the back heel. As a lot of people are using it,
there are less traditional submissions to
publishers easing the log jam.
So if you are planning to become a self
published author, your timing is perfect!
So what is self publishing?|
Instead of physically bundling up your novel and sending to
potential traditional publishers, you can now use online
companies and do it all electronically. They provide you with
the tools to upload your novel text, design your covers and put
it up for sale online. All quickly and easily! There are also
companies that will handle this process for you which you can
find on the Internet. We would suggest not discounting the traditional
route just because you are self publishing. It may be worth
making submissions to publishers as well!

NewNovelist and Creative Writing|
Creative writing and learning how to write a novel can be
exceptionally hard. First, you have to learn the basics, then
you have to practice... and practice... and practice. And you also
have to research what makes a successful novel. The vast
majority of novels adopt a basic formula, and we incorporate
these within NewNovelist.
Whilst throughout these additional information pages we have
provided tips and 'how-to' advice, the real gold dust is in our
software program (available on CD or to download). It is based
on tuition from the leading university Creative Writing course
in England (University of East Anglia), and uses templates to
provide you with the structure you might otherwise spend years
researching. These templates can teach you the basics to writing
all different types of novel: crime, mystery, detective,
fantasy, childrens, thrillers, military and many many more. In
short, it provides you with a virtual tutor.
In addition to the template structure, there is context
sensitive help available - advising you on timing, tone and beat
- and scores of examples drawn from modern and classical
literature. For beginners this will be a revelation. For more
experienced writers it provides a welcome refresher.
